I did a lot of crazy things to make this. I used acrylic for all of it.
I used a giant brush to do the background colors. Then, for the stars I just sprinkled water all over it with my fingers. That created white spots.
I used one wide sweep to create the curve of the earth, then brought it down with more paint. I poked around aimlessly with the brush to do the scattered effect where the earth ends.
For the craters, I added just a bit of water to black paint, dipped the brush in it, and held it high above the painting until it splashed down. Because the blue paint underneath it was still wet, all I had to do was mix in the middle of the black craters to create a swirly mixture look inside the craters.
The flames on the bottom and constellation lines at the top were made with watery paint too, to give it a translucent effect. Within the 'boxes' the constellations created, I lightly dabbed splotches of the least prominent color of the the box's background (yellow splotches on the blue and purple background).
The tiny black dots and black lines were all splashing with the paint brush.

What is this doing in the comments and not in the deviation information itself!? O_O That's really intriguing and amazing stuff to know! You sure have creative ways of doing these things.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
